Review: iPhone, a Love Story

You have been warned by the title that this is not a balanced review. This is a love list by two devoted supporters of iPhones for use by lawyers. Why do we LOVE our iPhones?
  • The App Store. It opened less than two years ago but already has 3.2 bazofazillion apps available for download and we've only downloaded 14% percent of them. All the rain-making in the world won't do you any good if you don't have sound controls on your firm's finances. However, without revenue, nothing moves in a firm. Nothing. Profits & Total Minimum Compensation

Profitability must be your first goal. If your firm is not profitable, it cannot survive. You must be profitable above and beyond your total minimum compensation (whether you take your compensation out of your firm as salary or a mix of salary and dividends for tax purposes). Your total minimum compensation should be included in your firm's overhead and you should pay it out to yourself when you pay everyone else in your firm (as soon and as consistently as possible - most firms do not fully support their owners from day one).
